Why I’m Planning Now to Get Ahead of 2026 — And Why You Should Too
I’m planning for 2026 now because the world we’re operating in today is not the same world we worked in even a few years ago.
We’ve lived through a pandemic that changed human behaviour on every level, how people spend, how they prioritise their wellbeing, who they trust, and what they expect from professionals.
We’re watching climate events reshape the planet in real time. When the earth shifts, it disrupts everything around it. The plates move, the landscape changes, storms become more severe, and people have no choice but to adapt, rebuild, and evolve.
The beauty industry is no different.
Just like the world around us, this industry has been forced into rapid evolution. Client expectations have risen sharply. Education, both accurate and wildly inaccurate spreads instantly via social media.
AI has accelerated learning and misinformation at the same time. And these changes don’t move slowly; they hit like an earthquake. One shift cracks the ground beneath us, and suddenly the old way of doing business no longer holds.
Yet many professionals are still trying to build their businesses using the same processes they used five or ten years ago, or worse, trying to grow through a Facebook group or outdated social media tactics when those algorithms have already moved on.
The landscape has changed. The platforms have changed. The behaviour of the people we serve has changed. If your visibility and marketing strategy hasn't evolved alongside them, you will feel the impact.
I say this all the time: yes, some businesses can stand still and stay busy, often because they have a long-standing client base, low overheads, or a specific niche. But most salons, especially those with teams to support, high rent, rising bills, and growing competition can’t afford to sit still. The industry is moving, the world is moving, and clients are moving. If we don’t move with them, we get left behind.
My decisions for 2026 are not based on opinions from Instagram or TikTok. They are based on hard data, global studies, industry reports, and the conversations happening at the highest level. The numbers tell a very clear story: clients want transparency, evidence, safety, professionalism, and inclusivity. They expect more from us because the world has pushed them to expect more.
This is only a brief overview of what’s happening, but it sets the foundation for the journey I’m building and you’re welcome to join me. Over the next year, I’ll be sharing what I’ve learned, how the industry is evolving, and what professionals need to put in place if they want to stay relevant, visible, and profitable in 2026 and beyond.
We can’t control the earthquakes, but we can control how we rebuild.
