WHY VERIFICATION MATTERS
Looking professional isn't the same as being verified.
The hair, beauty, aesthetics and wellness industries are full of highly skilled and experienced professionals. But when you're choosing someone new, it isn't always easy to know what sits behind their business.
A beautiful website, busy social media account or impressive photographs can't tell you everything.
HABD Verified gives you another layer of reassurance by independently checking key information about the business or professional before awarding our Verified status.
Documents are only part of the picture.
Qualifications and insurance matter. But they don't tell you everything about the business you're considering trusting.
HABD can also look at areas such as the business's website, pricing, professional claims, client information, reviews, visible work, social media and wider professional reputation.
We're not looking for the biggest business, the fanciest website or the largest social following.
We're looking for evidence of a genuine, competent and professionally run business.
Verified and Expert
HABD Verified isn't automatically given to businesses that join The Hair & Beauty Directory. It is separately assessed and can be refused.
Every verification is built around five principles:

Appropriate current insurance and relevant professional requirements have been checked.

We check evidence of the qualifications, competence or expertise appropriate to the business.

ACCOUNTABLE
Verified businesses agree to the HABD Code of Professional Conduct and must continue to meet our standards.

Every HABD verification has a defined scope, so you can see what has actually been checked rather than assuming a tick covers everything connected with that business.
A business verification does not automatically mean that every employee, treatment, qualification, product or course has been individually verified.

How HABD Verification works.
Join or sign in to HABD
Membership gives access to the verification process.
Upload your evidence from your profile.
Go to your member dashboard, open your profile and upload your insurance and core qualification. The verification request is triggered from there.
HABD assessment.
We check the submitted evidence and carry out the Professional Standards Assessment.
Decision
We approve, request further information, place the application under further review or decline it.
Live verification
Approved businesses receive a unique HABD verification number and public live record.
Ongoing status
Verification is reviewed annually and can be reopened if important information changes or a serious concern is raised.
The live record is the proof.
Every HABD Verified business or professional has a live verification record.

What HABD checked
When the verification was last reviewed
What the verification covers
