Make sure you notify us before booking if you have any health problems, particularly diabetes.
Please note we do not do any intimate waxing (standard bikini only) if you are on your period. Please ensure you have showered and trimmed before the appointment or your therapist may refuse your treatment.
Please beware that it is normal to have a slight reaction to waxing, so if this is your first time please be aware you may get some redness and a slight rash for a few days.
Please also keep in mind that we do take every precaution for your safety, this does not stop your body from reacting to hair removal. Although this is rare, it can be uncomfortable.
Please note that although we aim to remove all hair, we can only do this if it is at the required length. You may also find that you have re-growth a few days after your wax; this is due to the way hair grows. Hair grows in 3 stages, active, resting and dying. You may therefore experience re-growth as the hair maybe under the skin surface. To help get the best from your wax and help stabilise the growth pattern regular waxing is advised.
Your skin will be more sensitive for the first 24–48 hours after waxing, so it’s important to look after the area properly. Good aftercare helps prevent irritation, redness, bumps, and ingrown hairs, and keeps your results smooth for longer.
For the first 24–48 hours, avoid:
-
Heat and sweating (gym, hot yoga, saunas, steam rooms)
-
Hot baths or showers
-
Sunbeds, sunbathing, or heat exposure
-
Swimming or chlorinated pools
-
Tight clothing that may rub
-
Fake tan
-
Touching or scratching the area
Keep the skin clean and cool
Your follicles are open after waxing, so avoid anything that can introduce bacteria. A cool shower, loose clothing, and a gentle skin routine will help reduce redness and discomfort.
Start gentle exfoliation after 3 days
Exfoliate 2–3 times a week to prevent ingrown hairs and keep the skin smooth. A mitt or a gentle scrub is ideal, nothing harsh or overly perfumed.
Moisturise regularly
Keeping the skin hydrated helps reduce bumps and irritation. Choose a lightweight, fragrance-free moisturiser if your skin is sensitive.
Avoid shaving between appointments
Shaving disrupts the hair growth cycle and can make your next wax less effective. Let the hair grow evenly for your best results.
If you’re prone to ingrown hairs
Let us know, we can recommend products that help with exfoliation, calming the skin and reducing inflammation.
Waxing is a great option for anyone who wants smooth skin, longer-lasting results, and softer regrowth. It’s suitable for most people and works well on all skin types, including sensitive or reactive skin. Many clients choose waxing because they want a cleaner finish than shaving, fewer ingrown hairs, and a treatment carried out by someone experienced who understands skin health.
Waxing is ideal for:
-
People who want weeks of smoothness rather than daily shaving
-
Anyone looking to reduce coarse or thick regrowth over time
-
Clients with sensitive skin who need a professional, gentle technique
-
Those preparing for holidays, events, or regular maintenance
-
People prone to shaving rash or irritation
-
Clients who prefer a hygienic, quick, and effective hair removal method
-
Anyone wanting precise shaping for areas like brows or bikini
Whether it’s your first time or you’ve been waxing for years, the treatment can be adapted to your comfort level and skin needs. We’ll always assess your skin, talk through the treatment, and make sure you feel relaxed and informed throughout.
Waxing is safe for most people, but there are certain situations where it may not be suitable. Before your appointment, we’ll always check your skin and talk through any concerns to make sure the treatment is right for you.
Waxing is not recommended if you:
-
Have active eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, or open sores in the treatment area
-
Have sunburn or skin that is overly sensitive from sun exposure
-
Are using prescription-strength retinoids (such as Roaccutane/Isotretinoin)
-
Are taking steroids that thin the skin
-
Have had recent chemical peels, laser, or strong exfoliating treatments
-
Have extremely fragile, thin, or reactive skin
-
Have active infections, rashes, or contagious skin conditions
You must wait if you have recently:
-
Used sunbeds or had intense sun exposure (within the last 24–48 hours)
-
Applied fake tan to the area
-
Had microdermabrasion, microneedling, or resurfacing treatments
-
Shaved within the last few days (hair needs enough length for wax to grip)
If you’re unsure, just ask
Some conditions require adjustments rather than a full contraindication. We can assess your skin on the day and advise what’s safe. Your comfort and skin health always come first.
24 hours
Waxing gives an immediate smooth finish, with the hair removed cleanly from the root. Most clients notice a big difference straight away, the skin looks fresher, feels softer, and stays smooth for much longer than shaving.
Straight after your treatment
-
Skin may look slightly pink or feel warm for a few hours
-
The area will feel smooth and clean
-
Hair is removed from the follicle, so there’s no stubble or shadow
Within a few days
-
Any redness should settle quickly
-
Skin feels noticeably softer
-
Regrowth is much finer and lighter than shaving
-
Many clients see fewer ingrown hairs with the correct aftercare
With regular waxing
-
Hair becomes sparser over time
-
Growth slows down as the follicle weakens
-
Results last longer between appointments
-
Skin stays smoother and healthier with consistent exfoliation and moisture
-
Most clients eventually need waxing less often
Long-term results
Clients who wax regularly every 4–6 weeks often experience long-lasting smoothness, reduced regrowth, and a significant improvement in skin texture. It’s one of the easiest ways to maintain soft, hair-free skin without daily upkeep.
Waxing is generally very safe when carried out by an experienced professional, but like any treatment it can come with temporary side effects. Most are mild and settle quickly, especially with good aftercare.
Common, temporary side effects
-
Mild redness or warmth in the skin
-
Slight tenderness for a few hours
-
Small bumps where the hair was removed
-
Sensitivity when touching the area
-
Light pinpoint bleeding (common with coarse hair)
These reactions are normal and usually calm within 24–48 hours.
Less common side effects
-
Ingrown hairs
-
Localised irritation
-
Minor bruising (usually in sensitive areas or first-time waxing)
-
Small patches of dryness if the skin is dehydrated
Possible risks
These are rare but can happen if the skin is very reactive or if aftercare isn’t followed:
-
Skin lifting (when a very thin top layer of skin comes away)
-
Inflammation or folliculitis
-
Increased sensitivity if you’re using strong skincare (retinol, acids, etc.)
-
Breakouts in areas prone to congestion
We always assess your skin beforehand and adapt the wax and technique to minimise any risk. If you have sensitive, reactive, or medical skin conditions, we’ll talk through your options and make sure the treatment is safe for you.
When to seek advice
If you notice prolonged redness, burning, strong irritation, or anything that doesn’t improve within 48 hours, contact us so we can check the area and suggest the right care.
level 3 beauty
Does waxing hurt?
Most people feel mild, quick discomfort, but the technique and quality of wax make a huge difference. Because we use premium wax and refined methods, clients usually say it's far more comfortable than they expected.
How long do results last?
Typically between 3–5 weeks depending on your hair growth cycle. With regular treatments, results last longer and regrowth becomes softer.
Can I wax if I have sensitive skin?
Yes. We use wax that’s suitable for sensitive skin and will check your skin before we begin. If you have conditions like eczema or psoriasis, we’ll advise you first.
How long should my hair be?
Around a grain of rice — usually 3–4 weeks of growth. If the hair is too short, the wax won’t grip properly.
Is bikini or intimate waxing embarrassing?
Not at all. It’s a professional treatment carried out with respect, privacy, and efficiency. You can tell us what you’re comfortable with and we’ll guide you through the process.
Can I go to the gym or sunbed afterwards?
It’s best to avoid heat, friction, sweat, saunas, and sunbeds for 24–48 hours. Your skin will be more sensitive straight after waxing.
How do I prevent ingrown hairs?
Exfoliate gently 2–3 times per week and moisturise regularly. We’ll recommend suitable products depending on your skin type.

Before your appointment:
-
Arrive with clean nails
Remove any old polish if possible. If you can’t, that’s fine we can take it off safely. -
Avoid picking or peeling gel
This weakens the nail plate and can cause sensitivity. If your current gel is lifting, leave it, we’ll remove it gently. -
Moisturise your hands the day before (not the morning of)
Hydration supports healthy nails, but creams or oils on the day can affect adhesion. -
Keep cuticles intact
Don’t trim or push them back yourself. Over-prepping at home can lead to cuts, sensitivity, or lifting. -
If you’re prone to breakages
Let us know in advance so we can advise on strengthening options such as BIAB or builder gel. -
Avoid heavy hand work before your appointment
Gardening, cleaning chemicals, or long hot baths can soften the nails and skin, making them more sensitive. -
Check for any soreness or infection
If you notice swelling, redness, or any signs of fungal infection, please message us we’ll advise the safest option. -
Please book a removal if you need it
If you’re new to gel polish
Come with your natural nails as they are. We’ll assess your nail health and help you choose the right treatment to support your long-term nail goals.
Good aftercare keeps your nails strong, helps your gel last longer, and protects the natural nail underneath. Following these simple steps will make a big difference to both wear and nail health.
For the best results:
-
Use cuticle oil daily
This is the biggest factor in nail strength and flexibility. Well-hydrated nails are far less likely to break or lift. -
Wear gloves for cleaning, washing up, or gardening
Chemicals and constant water exposure weaken both natural nails and gel. -
Avoid excessive heat for 24 hours
Hot baths, saunas, sunbeds, or anything that overheats the nails can affect the gel while it’s still settling. -
Don’t pick, peel, or pull at the gel
This causes layers of your natural nail to come off, leading to weakness and splitting. Always return for safe removal. -
Use your fingertips, not nails
Avoid using nails to open cans, peel labels, or pry anything — this is one of the main causes of breaks. -
Moisturise your hands regularly
Healthy skin supports healthy nails. Dry skin can cause hangnails and discomfort around the nail folds. -
Book maintenance every 2–3 weeks
Regular appointments keep the nail balanced, prevent overgrowth, and maintain strength.
If you experience lifting or breakage
Let us know. It can be down to lifestyle, nail shape, or product choice all of which we can adjust. We work with you to build long-term nail health, not just quick fixes.
For extensions
-
Keep nails at a manageable length for your lifestyle
-
Avoid pressure on the free edge

-
Inflammation around the nail folds if the skin is compromised or overworked
-
Product lifting if nails are damaged, oily, or dehydrated
We work gently, avoid aggressive prep, and use high-quality, ethical products to reduce all risks. Your natural nail health always comes first, and we will never continue with a treatment that puts your nails at risk.
When to contact us
If you notice persistent redness, swelling, discomfort, or anything that feels unusual, let us know so we can assess and advise the best course of action.
How long does gel polish last?
Most clients get around 2–3 weeks of wear, depending on lifestyle and nail health. With regular cuticle oil and good aftercare, many see even longer.
Will gel damage my nails?
Not when it’s applied and removed correctly. We use gentle prep, avoid over-filing, and remove gel safely to protect the natural nail plate.
What brand of gel do you use?
We use The GelBottle — high-quality, vegan, cruelty-free and known for its longevity and nail-friendly formulas. We also have over 350 colours to choose from.
Can you help if my nails are weak or peeling?
Yes. We specialise in nail health and can create a plan to help strengthen your nails. Builder gel or BIAB may be recommended depending on your starting point.
Do you offer extensions?
Yes. We provide safe, natural-looking extensions that protect the nail underneath and are shaped to suit your lifestyle and nail goals.
Is gel polish safe during pregnancy?
Yes, gel polish is generally considered safe. If you have any sensitivities or concerns, we can adapt the treatment.
Can I book if I’m a nail biter?
Absolutely. We work with all nail types, and many clients come to us specifically for a nail recovery journey. We can help you grow and strengthen your nails over time.
Why does gel sometimes lift or peel?
Common causes include picking, exposure to chemicals, heavy lifting, or naturally oily nail beds. We assess your nails and adjust products or prep to keep your gel lasting as long as possible.
How should I maintain my nails between appointments?
Use cuticle oil daily, wear gloves for cleaning, avoid using nails as tools, and keep your hands hydrated. Regular maintenance every 2–3 weeks gives the best long-term results.
